Our Social Services team works to provide a variety of referrals and information about resources at People’s Resource Center and in the broader DuPage County community to help meet client needs.
If you aren’t sure what resources exist in the community you are welcome to contact our team by phone, email or through the contact us button below.
We assist with public benefit applications for SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, Illinois Benefit Access, and Access DuPage.
Our department may also be able to provide vouchers for clothing, eye exams & eyeglasses, and other basic needs.
Emergency Financial Assistance
Emergency financial assistance is available from People’s Resource Center (PRC) on a limited basis for clients who are facing special hardships or unexpected needs, such as car repairs, utilities at risk of disconnection, and medical expenses. Our trained social services staff and volunteers work to connect clients to assistance from PRC or other area service providers.
Who can use Social Services?
You need to live in, or be moving to, DuPage County. You’ll also need to be registered as a PRC Client.
How to Get Started
To request emergency financial assistance, referrals, or help with a public benefit application call 630-682-5402, extension 323 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and leave a message with your name, phone number, and a short explanation of your situation. You will receive a response from a volunteer or staff member.
What to Expect
If funds are available and your situation appears to meet the program requirements, you will be offered a more in-depth interview. You’ll be asked to provide a variety of documents related to your financial and emergency situation. If funds are not available, or if you do not qualify for PRC’s program, staff members may be able to refer you to other sources of help. Please note that financial assistance from PRC is issued through payments directly to a utility company or other service provider.
