Dear PRC Community,
As PRC enters into our sixth month of adjusted services, I would like to share updates and continued gratitude. Overwhelming kindness and encouragement have truly made it possible to live out PRC’s mission of neighbors helping neighbors. In mid-March we rapidly transformed our emergency food and social services to safely care for our clients, volunteers and staff. Jobs, Literacy and Art are expanding online programs during this time of social distancing.
Since March 17, we have reached 3,052 families with emergency services and filled an astounding 13,218 car trunks with nutritious food using safe no-contact service! We have even provided some client choice, with team members filling specific food requests when items are available.
We especially celebrate the countless ways the entire DuPage community has stepped up to support PRC’s mission of service. Since March hundreds of new individuals have joined our volunteer team! Dedicated volunteers work in modified food pantry crews. Civic clubs, faith groups and businesses have partnered to host food and supply drives to support our food pantries. Last but not least, our staff members are superheroes each and every day. The whole community has made countless adjustments to maintain safety, ensure continued services, and keep us connected and supported.
We plan to continue with safety precautions, social distancing and outdoor food distribution until it is safe to work differently. Our goal is to continue to sustain emergency services, and follow wise practices to keep clients, volunteers and staff safe. We are next looking into opportunities to provide refurbished computers and clothing, with health and safety precautions.
More information will be coming in the days and weeks ahead.
From all of us at PRC, we wish you good health and safety.
