(February 7, 2025 – WHEATON, Illinois) – People’s Resource Center (PRC) is thrilled to celebrate a major milestone with the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for its newly expanded Wheaton Campus. The event will take place on Tuesday, February 18, at 2:00 p.m. at PRC’s Wheaton location, 201 Naperville Road.
This ceremony celebrates the successful completion of PRC’s transformational Building a Better Tomorrow campaign, which raised $8 million to enhance and expand services for DuPage County neighbors.
A Vision for a Stronger Community
Launched in 2021, the expansion project involved acquiring two adjacent properties to make way for a new 11,000-square-foot facility. The result is a two-building campus that provides increased space, improved accessibility, and additional parking—ensuring PRC can better serve the growing needs of the community. PRC serves 25,000 neighbors per year through the involvement of more than 2,500 volunteers.
“The expanded Wheaton Campus represents a bold step forward for PRC’s impact,” says CEO Jenifer Fabian. “Over the last 20 years, our programs and the number of neighbors we serve have doubled. While our volunteers and staff have always provided a warm welcome, our space constraints limited the experience we could offer. Our improved Wheaton campus changes that with a dignified, empowering, and inclusive space for all who come through our doors.”
The upgraded campus features:
- A spacious food pantry with a loading dock, walk-in freezer, and cooler
- Increased parking to accommodate more visitors
- Dedicated one-on-one meeting spaces for tutoring and job coaching
- A welcoming lobby and intake area designed to provide a dignified experience for all
“This is an amazing transformation that will support the needs of our neighbors for years to come,” says Christina LePage, PRC’s Vice President of Programs. “With more private spaces for job assistance and literacy meetings, additional parking, and expanded program options, it truly is a new day for the entire PRC community.”
The newly completed Wheaton Campus combines the existing 201 Building, which hosts social services, computer access and refurbishing, art programs, adult learning, and literacy activities, with the new 211 Building designed especially for food market and service growth needs.
The impact of these improvements is already being felt, as clients, service teams, and community partners experience the benefits of a more functional, welcoming, and accessible space. 2025 marks PRC’s 50th anniversary and this ceremony kicks off a year-long celebration of the organization’s history and impact in DuPage County.
