Endowment

People’s Resource Center is a vital organization making a difference in the lives of thousands of neighbors in DuPage County since 1975.

A strong endowment is the “story behind the story” at the most successful organizations making the most impact in their communities across the country. The organizations that make a difference today and sustain impact over time are, almost without exception, those with strong endowments.

To ensure that People’s Resource Center is not only able to meet the needs of our neighbors who come to our doors now, but is also innovative and progressive in the future and accessible for all families in DuPage County, we must continue to build a financial endowment for the future. Together, we can guarantee PRC will be able to meet the needs for decades into the future.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is an endowment?

An endowment is the permanent capital of an institution comprised of gifts given over time. People’s Resource Center endowment provides funding to support the mission for current and future clients and lends fiscal stability to organization.

Why should I give to the endowment?

Income from the endowment directly supports PRC’s budget. Unrestricted endowment provides the organization with the greatest flexibility.

What is the size of People’s Resource Center’s current endowment?

As of May 31, 2020, PRC’s endowment is currently valued at $3.8M.

How can I give to the current endowment?

Gifts may be paid by check, credit card, stock transfers, or wire transfer. In addition, transfers of appreciated assets such as real estate, art, etc. are all acceptable means of funding an endowment. Planned gifts and bequests may also be used to add to endowment.

How much income from the endowment is spent each year?

The Endowment Policy, approved by People’s Resource Center Board of Directors, allows the school to spend no more that 4% of a three-year calendar average of the endowment’s value. This conservative spending rate allows the endowment to grow.

Who invests and manages the endowment fund?

The investments are managed by an independent outside financial investment company that is overseen by the Finance Committee of the PRC Board of Directors.
