Refurbished Computers and Training

At this time, only emergency food and social services are being provided onsite. Art, computer and literacy classes have transitioned to virtual classes. Please check back for updated information, which will post as it becomes available.

Computer ownership and skills have become essential in our digital world, but not everyone has equal access.  Digital tools – something many of us take for granted – allow people to find jobs, complete school work and lead more connected and enriching lives.

People’s Resource Center’s Computer Access and Training program helps clients understand personal computer basics and teaches commonly used software programs, including Intro to Computers, Windows Fundamentals, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

As a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher, PRC takes donated computers and refurbishes them for distribution to those who need a home computer.  The Fix-It program provides free repairs on home computers for PRC clients.

Who can use the Refurbished Computer Program, and Training services?

Adults living in DuPage County who have registered as a PRC client can sign up for computer classes.  PRC clients may also receive one free refurbished computer per household; computer repairs are free of charge.

Become a Client

To use the computer lab, take a computer class, or receive a computer, you will first need to register as a PRC client.  To become a client, please click here.

How does it work?

For most classes, advanced sign-up is required by calling 630-682-5402 extension 267.  Classes meet for 90 minutes for seven consecutive weeks, and are held throughout DuPage County.
