Join us at the Westmont Public Library on September 4, 2024, from 10 AM to 3 PM, for an empowering day dedicated to advancing your career and tech skills. Whether you’re job hunting, seeking career advancement, looking to polish your professional image, or wanting to learn more about the latest technology that can assist you, the Career and Tech Expo is your gateway to new opportunities.

  • Interview Coaching: Gain valuable tips and practice from experienced job coaches to ace your next interview.
  • Tech Tools: Receive a free laptop computer (one per household, additional registration required) to enhance your job search and learn new tech skills.
  • Workshops: Participate in sessions on effective job searching, self-care, computer repairs, and more.

Workshops

10am – Literacy / Job Assistance Conversation Circle
(in the Kwasek Meeting Room)

Join the Adult Learning and Literacy team as we set up a conversation group that combines work readiness and English language skills. This group will discuss important topics like goal setting, problem solving, team work, interview skills and more. Anyone is invited to attend and join this impactful conversation!

11am – Self Care Art workshop
(in the Kwasek Meeting Room)

“Artful Self-Care: Creative Strategies for Job Seekers” is an immersive workshop that uses the therapeutic power of art to support your well-being during the job search process. Engage in creative activities designed to reduce stress, boost confidence, and reflect on your professional journey in a supportive, artistic environment.

12pm – Using Chat GPT In the Job Search
(in the Community Meeting Room)

“Discover how to boost your job search with ‘ChatGPT in the Job Search.’ Learn to use AI to create tailored resumes, prepare for interviews, and more. Get practical tips on researching companies, crafting application materials, and practicing interview scenarios with ChatGPT for better success.”

1pm – Polished & Professional – Digital Communication Essentials for Job Seekers (in the Kwasek Meeting Room)

“Polished & Professional: Phone and Email Strategies for Job Hunters” is designed to equip you with the essential communication skills needed to stand out in the job market. Learn how to craft compelling emails and handle phone interactions with employers with poise, ensuring every interaction counts towards making a stellar first impression.

Job Preparation and Support

10am – 3pm: Resume Review and Interview Support
(in Study Room I)

10am – 12pm: Computer Access Repair
(in the Community Meeting Room)

Volunteers will be on-site to diagnose and repair desktop and laptop computers. We will troubleshoot both hardware and software issues. Computers needing additional service will be taken to PRC for further processing and returned to the client.
