Meeting our Community's Needs - Neighbor to Neighbor

Classes, Tutoring and Exam Preparation

Almost 500 adults received help with ESL, GED and citizenship exams last year.

Adult Learning & Literacy

The Adult Learning and Literacy program offers instruction in English, math, reading skills, GED preparation and citizenship test preparation. Learning occurs in classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one sessions with volunteer tutors. PRC also offers “drop-in” tutoring sessions open to students at any level of learning.

Classes and tutoring are free, and are open to DuPage adults. To take a class or get matched up with a tutor, you will need to register as a PRC client.

How to Get Started

To get started, call Adult Learning and Literacy at 630-682-5402 ext. 337 and leave a message with your name and phone number. A PRC staff member will call you to discuss your learning goals and how PRC can help.

What to Expect

Based on your initial conversation with our staff, you will be assigned a class or tutor.  While we do our best to make sure you get the classes and tutoring you request, at times, PRC has a waiting list for clients seeking tutoring or English classes. PRC staff will also try to connect you with a tutor or class meeting closer to your home or work, if you have difficulty getting to one of our offices.

The Adult Learning and Literacy program also offers free Spanish conversation classes that will have you habla espanol in no time! You can register for classes by e-mailing or by calling Kathy at 630-682-5402, ext. 249. All classes take place at our Wheaton location, 201 S. Naperville Road.
