Job Assistance Program

In keeping with the People's Resource Center's vision of providing the community with a one-stop shop for basic needs and other resources, the PRC has established a Job Assistance Program to provide support and assistance to clients seeking gainful employment. Acting as a referral agency in partnership with other community organizations, the Job Assistance Program refers clients to key job search resources. With a team of dedicated mentors to assist and guide clients, the PRC Jobs Program strives to help clients overcome obstacles on their path to financial independence.

Mentoring

Searching for a job can be very difficult. To make the process easier, the Job Assistance Program provides clients with one-on-one mentoring at every step along the way. In private consultations, our mentors discuss job search obstacles with clients and help them to devise appropriate plans of actions for achieving both short- and long-term career goals.

Referrals

DuPage County is blessed with many organizations devoted to helping those in need. Some of these organizations include agencies solely committed to serving those seeking employment. Unfortunately, many area residents are unfamiliar with these resources. To better serve our community, our program includes a referral service to keep its clients informed.

Job Club

To provide additional support and information, we have a Job Club that meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the People's Art Room. Registration is requested by calling 630-682-5402 x333 or via Contact Us about Job Assistance.

Partnerships

Since transportation is a big obstacle for many of our clients, the Jobs Program has formed partnerships with local agencies to bring their services to the PRC. The PRC Job Assistance Program offers referrals and mentoring resources to jobseekers that are actively engaged with a mentor and have committed to a service and action plan. We are not a placement agency: finding and getting a job is the client’s sole responsibility. The PRC and its volunteers do not offer references or endorsements for either hiring companies or clients.
