Volunteers Needed

A growing number of volunteers are needed in virtually all areas of the Computer Training and Computer Access Programs, especially:

1. Computer Service Representatives (CSRs) are our biggest current need. These are people who staff our Computer Technology Center (CTC) during Food Market hours and introduce clients to the wonderful world of technology. CSRs explain the importance of having a computer in the home for children, adults, and seniors. They also register clients for classes, give computers to eligible recipients, and answer questions. Teams of two to four CSRs are needed for each Food Market shift.
2. Instructors for the computer literacy training are our second biggest need. They teach basic computer literacy to adults at one of the many neighborhood training sites. For further information, see Computer Training.
3. Skilled technicians for reconditioning and repairing computers and related equipment. For more information, see Computer Access.
4. At any given time there are needs in special areas, particularly as we introduce a Job Training program at People’s Resource Center. Volunteer assignments requiring business, financial, marketing, and clerical skills, as well as computer skills, are needed.
