Illinois August foreclosure rates are the highest in the Nation with Illinois foreclosure filings rising 29 percent from July. In August, one in every 298 Illinois homes received a foreclosure filing.
The DuPage Homeownership Center is working diligently to help DuPage homeowners prevent foreclosure! As a HUD-certified non-profit housing counseling agency, DHOC provides unbiased, professional, confidential, free foreclosure prevention services.
In addition to providing other foreclosure prevention services, DHOC has helped over 700 households in their application to the Illinois Hardest Hit Program. Under this program, homeowners struggling to pay their mortgage because of a loss of income through no fault of their own can qualify for up to $25,000 in assistance. The assistance can be used to pay arrearages to reinstate a mortgage, or to lower upcoming mortgage payments by up to 18 months.
