People’s Resource Center exists to respond to basic human needs, promote dignity and justice, and create a future of hope and opportunity for the residents of DuPage County, Illinois, through discovering and sharing personal and community resources. It is a 501(c)(3) multi-service organization serving low-income residents of DuPage County.

Last year over 5,700 unduplicated families took advantage of the services at the People's Resource Center (PRC ) – an increase of 4% over FY ’06 – for a total of more than 20,000 unique DuPage residents.

Adult Literacy for language skills and GED assistance

Access to donated computers for home use

PRC operates the largest countywide food pantry and multi-service center for DuPage County’s working poor.
|
Our services are available in 20 neighborhood literacy sites, 14 computer training sites and 13 art sites.

OUR FY ’07 ANNUAL RESULTS:
|

Food Market - 17,674 unique people were fed a total of over 1.4 million pounds of food
|

|
Clothes Connection - Over 5,000 people received clothing
|

|
Intake - volunteers conducted over 20,000 assessments to connect families to services
|

|
Rent Assistance - 296 families were counseled
270 families avoided homelessness by receiving emergency rent/mortgage assistance
|

|
Share the Spirit - 756 families had a happier holiday thanks to gifts for the whole family
|

|
Computer Classes - Almost 2,000 students registered for computer classes
|

|
Computer Access - 1,130 families received computers free of charge for their homes
|

|
Job Search Assistance - 71 people found jobs through guidance from PRC job mentors
|

|
Literacy - 325 adult learners gained English skills, GED, U.S. citizenship and other literacy skills; 35 children attended a summer science enrichment program.

Art – 205 adults and 457 children developed their creativity and self-esteem learning art
